PATTANI, Thailand – An improvised explosive device was detonated near a shop on Road 43 in Nong Chik district early Wednesday, torching a 10-wheel truck in an attack that was followed by a series of other security incidents across the district.

The blast occurred around 1am near Sri Samai Superstore in Ban Don Yang, Tambon Bo Thong. Firefighters and rescuers brought the flames under control before authorities sealed off the area to gather evidence.

Officers later received reports of tyre spikes scattered near a Shell petrol station in Ban Ko Mo Khaeng and CCTV cameras set on fire at two locations in Tambon Bang Khao, prompting an investigation into whether the incidents are linked to the bombing.
